Winning The “No Win” Situation For The Small Businesses

The global pandemic led to a sudden downfall in the economy. Several small and medium-sized businesses had to shut down as there were travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines issued by governments all over the world. The small and medium-sized businesses that survived felt as they faced a “No Win” scenario where they were unable to figure out how they will operate their business when their customers are unable to leave their homes.

Brian Volk-Weiss, the founder and CEO of the Nacelle Company, shares how this unsettling situation of the “No Win” can be recovered by the small and medium-sized businesses. He has already guided the award-winning brand of the Comedy Dynamics to become the country’s largest independent producer and distributor of one-hour comedy specials.

He also initiated innovative partnerships with giants such as Netflix, ROKU, Amazon, Comcast, BET+ and Showtime Disney+.

Winning the Battle

Brian says he is highly influenced by the Star Trek’s Captain Kirk. Recounting the “Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan”, the character of Kirk faced a serious and dangerous situation but, instead of giving up, responds with, “I do not believe in no-win situations”. Taking this as the motivation, Brian believes in going back to work and fighting every day. He adds that his career was okay with a failure rate of 99%. A positive mindset and a zeal to keep fighting will always help you over the struggling situation in your business.

Getting Inspired

Brian says that one man has deeply inspired him in overcoming the “No Win” scenario. He says that President Ulysses S. Grant was almost a homeless man before the Civil War started. He was selling firewood for his earning. Four years later, he became the Commanding General of the US Military Forces, and after five years, he became the President of the United States.

The journey of Brian stated as a manager responsible for managing the comedy artists when he did not know anything about the industry himself. He joined the Laugh Factory and got mesmerized by it. Slowly and gradually, he developed connections and gained experience in the industry. The journey of Grant is highly inspirational and guides to overcome the NO Win scenario.

Small and Medium-sized businesses must learn from such people and their experiences to get ahead of the industry. Being an entrepreneur, always look for opportunities that can boost the growth of your company and save itself from a complete failure.
